Artes publishing house was founded in 1997, based on The Decision of the Senate of „George Enescu” National University of Arts, according to The Law of Education no. 84/1995, art. 6, targeting a harmonious jointing between an open minded approach and the traditional values of Romanian and Universal Arts.
The Artes Publish House is based in Iaşi, housed by the George Enescu” National University of Arts, Costache Negruzzi street, no. 7-9, phone. 0740-129.690, 0232-21.25.49, fax: 0232-21.25.51.
The publishing house is constituted as a non-profit Foundation, not having a distinct legal personality and no bank account separate from that of the university.
Accredited by the National Council for Scientific Research in Higher Education (CNCSIS) and recommended to the National Council for Attestation of University Degrees and Diplomas (CNATDU) for the recognition of published works, Artes has a special configuration, due to the triple-directed university affiliation (on fields - music, teather and fine arts), managing to ensure the publication of scientific papers, university courses, monographs, art albums, music scores, specialized periodicals of a scientific, didactic and broad cultural nature, in the field of art and translations..
The two complementary directions of Artes Publishing House aim at both the publication of well-known authors and the promotion of young authors, within the following collections: Didactics; History and criticism; stylistics; Folklore anthology; Creation (Music, Visual Arts, Theater); Byzantinology; University Conferences; Lexicography; Information and Communication Technology (Music, Visual Arts, Theater); Debut.
Artes Publishing House won the Grand Prize at the European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT 2009, Diploma Scientific Book Award, Diploma - Publishing House Grand Prize, 2010, Diploma of Excellence for Promoting the Creativity, 2011, Diploma of Excellence, 2012, also - Theodor Pallady Award for Art Book - Librex 2017, Art Book Award (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th Edition) at the Editorial Harvest Days Book Fair, organized by the Mihai Ursachi House of Culture Iaşi Municipality and over 80 Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, as well as Diplomas of Excellence within the Exhibition of the EUROINVENT Scientific Book Salon, 2015-2019 editions.
The publishing house does not have a distinct legal personality and no bank account separate from that of the university. The editorial activity is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the following regulations: Law no. 8/1996 on copyright and related rights; Law no. 111/1995 regarding the establishment, organization, and functioning of the Legal Print Depot; Law no. 35/1994 regarding the literary, cinematographic, theatrical, musical, folkloric and plastic arts stamp; Orders of the Ministry of Culture and Cults in the field.
Artes Publishing House of the National University of Arts "George Enescu" was evaluated by the National Council for Scientific Research in Higher Education (CNCSIS), recommended to the National Council for Attestation of Titles and Diplomas and University Certificates (CNATDCU), for recognition of published works.
The publishing house ensures the publication of courses, manuals, treatises, books, guides, dictionaries, art albums, specialized periodicals, in Romanian or in foreign languages, in the following collections: Didactics; History and criticism; stylistics; Folklore anthology; Creation (Music, Visual Arts, Theater); Byzantinology; University Conferences; Lexicography; Information and Communication Technology (Music, Visual Arts, Theater); Debut.
Publishers, printed books or volumes in digital version on CDs and/or DVDs, tenured or associated teachers, students, master students and doctoral students of the National University of Arts "George Enescu", who are authors of works didactic, scientific and artistic and meet, cumulatively, the following conditions:
A) The author (s) assumes full responsibility for the content of the work;
B) The paper must have a scientific review from a specialist in the field, having the scientific Ph.D. title;
C) The paper is computer-edited and corrected (including from a linguistic point of view) by the authors;
D) The author attaches to the publication request a synthetic presentation of its content and addressability, as well as the abstract in a language of international circulation (preferably, English);
E) The author fully covers the costs of editing and printing from financial sources outside the university (international or similar programs, sponsorships, own sources, etc.);
F) The author (s) do not assign the patrimonial copyrights to the publishing house, thus having the right to reproduce, translate, adapt and disseminate the work, under the conditions of Law no. 8/1996, unless the publishing and printing funds are obtained through a sponsorship contract concluded with the “George Enescu” National University of Arts, in this situation all the rights belong to Artes Publishing House;
G) The financing, total or partial, from the university funds will be able to be realized only with the agreement of the Board of Directors of the university, for any works of special interest, strictly related to the activity and development/promotion strategies of the institution.
Printing can be done at the Printing House of the National University of Arts "George Enescu", if its technical possibilities are satisfactory for the parties, only for the 15 copies required for granting an ISBN, according to the regulations. Otherwise, the beneficiary will order the printing at another printing house, the cost of printing being paid directly and in full by the beneficiary of the respective printing house.
In order to approve an editorial publication, the following documents will be presented to the Editorial Board:
A) The written request from the author and the circulation proposal, the main technical data of the work, the planned term of publication, and the sources of financing;
B) Synthesis note of the author regarding the content and addressability of the work (self-report);
C) The scientific review of the specialized referent designated by the publishing house;
D) Summary of the paper in an international language (preferably, English);
E) The approval of the faculty/department that patronizes the didactic, scientific or artistic branch to which the paper belongs (for textbooks, study supports, and university courses).
After the approval of the paper by the Editorial Board, the author has the obligation to hand over a good print copy or a CD, within the established term, in order to review it by the specialized referent.
The management of the Publishing House will ensure the connection with the National Library of Romania in the following conditions:
A) It will send the materials (works) as a Legal Deposit in the number of copies stipulated in Law no. 111/1995, art. 6 and 7, with the broadcasting of the first installment;
B) It will provide to the National Library of Romania the bibliographic data of the books it is going to publish, in order to Describe the CIP on the back of the title page;
C) The Director of the Publishing House together with the Service of the National ISBN-ISSN-CIP Center of the National Library of Romania will ensure the assignment of the international standardization numbers of books - ISBN - and of serial publications - ISSN.
The legal assistance of Artes Publishing House is provided by the Legal Office of UNAGE Iaşi.
The financial-accounting activity of the publishing house will be provided by the Accounting Service of UNAGE Iaşi.
The distribution of works published by Artes Publishing House is done as follows:
A) 7 copies for the National Library of Romania, according to the legal obligations;
B) 3 copies for the UNAGE Iași Library;
C) 5 copies at the disposal of Artes Publishing House, for the exchange of books between universities, exhibitions, etc.
The author undertakes to transfer to the publishing house a number of 15 copies for the Legal Deposit, the fund of the UNAGE Iași Library, and of the publishing house.
The launch and dissemination of the works are done by the author (s) of the book, in collaboration with the Director of the Publishing House and the Head of the UNAGE Library. The launch can be done at the level of the university, faculty, or specialized department, depending on the content, quality, and addressability of the work. The conditions for the launch are also determined by the funding sources provided by the author of the paper (sponsorships) and / or by the institutional body to which he belongs. The presentation and launch of the paper are done through specific advertising actions, performed by the UNAGE Library (catalogs, inclusion in the bibliographic bulletin, presentation on the Internet, other advertising materials), in view of possible orders.
